Hitting

Our College hitting focuses on three key elements:  (1) Developing power(exit velocity), (2) improving movement patterns that facilitate adjustability, (3) formulating an approach that puts you in the best position to succeed in any situation.
Types of Training Days
  • Max Intent - Exit Velocity matters. Learn to create proper intent and move efficiently in patterns that support hitting the ball hard.
  • Adjustability- Handling velocity, pitches in various locations, laying off pitches that are out of the zone. Training your brain to adapt and adjust to various inputs allows you to succeed in game environments.
  • Approach - Each hitter is different. Learning who you are as a hitter - what you do well, what you don’t, is critical to put yourself in a position to be successful. We will help you make data informed decisions to create an approach that works for you.

Training Tools
  • Overload/Underload Bats - These bats improve exit velocity, kinematic sequencing and promote adjustability
  • Bat sensor and video - With the use of high speed video and bat tracking technology, we can measure the characteristics of your swing. We will help you interpret this data and put together a plan for improvement.

Throwing

Arm fitness and efficiency are the foundation of our SBA throwing. You will be given the tools and techniques to improve your on field performance for both short and long term success.
Types of Training Days
  • Max Intent - Throwing hard matters for ALL baseball players. Learn to create proper intent and move efficiently in patterns that support velocity
  • Med to High Key - Command, position specific throws and movement pattern efficiency with varying volume and intensity. This is the bulk of most athletes training load
  • Restoration - Low intensity throwing to promote recovery and reinforce movement pattern efficiency. The more you build velocity, the more you will need to restore your body to continue to function at a high level.
Training Tools
  • Weighted Balls - PlyoCare balls and weighted baseballs are used for mechanical changes and adjustments as well as arm fitness health, velocity and command.
  • Wrist Weights - Another tool for movement pattern develop, fitness and arm health. Strengthen your acceleration and deceleration patterns without throwing a baseball
  • Radar - Being able to measure and track your velocity for velocity development, feel, intensity and volume is critical

​Strength/Movement & recovery

Efficient movement on the mound begins with moving how we were designed to move. Humans have an innate capability and capacity to move exceptionally well. Lacking strength, mobility and flexibility are simply the loss of or lack of development of human movement capabilities. The more Human you are the better athlete you will be and the better you can perform on the field.
Types of Movement
  • Heavy resistance training with free weights for full body strength development is critical for velocity, durability, health and recovery
  • Plyometrics, Isometrics, Eccentrics and more will be integrated with natural, practical movements designed to optimize how you move. Squats, Hangs, Swings, Throws, Jumps, Crawls, Getups, Rolls and more will be utilized to give you explosive, coordinated, controlled, repeatable movements on the mound.
  • The more efficiently you move the less stress you put on your body, therefore, the better/faster you will recover. Gain an edge through better recovery allowing you to train more.
​​​Training Tools
  • Free weights and a Trap Bar or Straight bar. Deadlifts are a cornerstone of our strength development
  • Bar for hanging/swing, beam for balancing walks and crawling, boxes to jump off/on, kettlebells and sandbags to lift and carry. These will be used for fundamental movements that will be developed to a high level of capability and capacity for strong, efficient, coordinated movement patterns.
